About Hugo Senna

Born in 2016, Hugo Senna’s fascination with cars was instant. From the moment he could walk, there was nothing he loved more than playing with cars, drawn endlessly to speed, movement, and racing.

At just five years old, Hugo began karting, and after impressive success in rental karts, his parents invested in his very own kart. Under the expert tutelage of Mike Spencer, renowned as a former adversary of Lewis Hamilton, Hugo’s talent rapidly flourished.

In his first competitive season, Hugo delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 2nd in the Rye House Rotax Micro Max Class Championship and mounting a thrilling late-season charge that saw him close rapidly on the championship leader, narrowly missing out on the title.

Hugo put in a strong qualifying performance to secure P2, but his progress was derailed in the heat after getting caught up in a collision, leaving him starting 16th for the final. From there, he delivered an impressive recovery drive—gaining 11 positions to finish 5th and salvage a very solid result from a difficult situation.

Unfortunately, after suffering food poisoning from something he ate at the track, he was unwell going into Sunday’s race. Despite battling illness, he showed real determination to still take the start and fought through the race to finish P8 in the final.
